LEER Genesis Tonneau Cover | Hard Folding Bed Protection
The Genesis folding tonneau cover combines one-hand operation with hard-panel security in a tri-fold design that never needs to leave your bed. We built it around three weather-sealed aluminum panels that fold toward the cab in seconds, giving you full bed access without removing anything.
Each panel locks independently, and the entire system mounts inside your bed rail for a flush, factory look. Dual-action tailgate seals keep water out whether you're parked or driving through rain, and the matte black finish resists UV fade for years. The Genesis fits most full-size truck beds without drilling into painted surfaces.
- Tri-fold hard aluminum panels with independent locking
- One-hand release operation from either side of the bed
- Dual-action weather seals at tailgate and panel edges
- Mounts inside bed rail with no drill clamp system
- Low-profile design sits flush with bed rail height
Panel Construction & Weather Protection

Each Genesis panel is formed from marine-grade aluminum with an internal honeycomb core that resists denting from cargo loads and hail. We apply a multi-stage powder coat process that holds color through years of sun exposure and highway grime.
The weather seal system runs along every panel edge and the tailgate interface. Dual compression bulbs create a tight seal when you close the tailgate, and side rails use a continuous EPDM gasket that stays flexible in sub-zero temperatures. Water channels built into the panel frames route rain toward drain points at the bed corners, keeping your cargo dry during heavy weather.
Installation & Bed Rail Fit

The Genesis mounts with a clamp system that grips the inside of your bed rail without drilling. Each clamp adjusts independently to match bed rail variations, and rubber pads protect your truck’s finish. Most installations take 30-45 minutes with basic hand tools.
We include vehicle-specific spacers for trucks with spray-in bedliners or drop-in liners. The rail clamps sit low enough that you retain full use of factory tie-down points and bed-mounted toolboxes. If you run a retractable tonneau cover on a second vehicle, you’ll notice the Genesis sits about an inch lower at the closed position, keeping your truck’s profile sleek.
Opening & Closing Operation

You release all three panels with one hand from either side of the bed. Pull the cab-side latch, and the panels unlock in sequence as you fold them toward the front. The hinges use stainless steel pins with sealed bearings that won’t bind or squeak after years of use.
When you need partial bed access, you can fold just the tailgate panel or the rear two panels while leaving the front section closed. Each panel locks independently, so you’re never forced into a full-open or full-closed position. The folded stack sits 11 inches high at the bulkhead, leaving plenty of clearance for toolboxes or cargo that extends past the midpoint of your bed.

What people are saying

Common questions about the Genesis folding cover
Yes, the Genesis is designed for full tailgate operation without unlatching the cover. The dual-action seal at the tailgate compresses when you drop the gate, and you'll feel normal tailgate resistance. You don't need to fold any panels to access the tailgate.
The Genesis includes adjustable spacers for spray-in and drop-in bedliners. The clamp system accommodates up to 0.25 inches of liner thickness without affecting the seal or panel alignment. Most popular bedliner brands fit without any modifications.
The Genesis aluminum panels support up to 400 pounds of evenly distributed static weight, which handles typical snow accumulation in most climates. If you regularly see heavy snowfall, brush off the cover after major storms to avoid prolonged weight on the panels. The honeycomb core is stiffer than soft roll-up covers but not as rigid as full one-piece hard lids.
No, the Genesis folds completely open and stays attached to your truck. The folded panels stack at the bulkhead and occupy about 11 inches of bed length. You never have to store panels in your garage or worry about reattaching hardware after a haul.
You'll need a socket set with metric and SAE sockets, a Phillips screwdriver, and a tape measure. Most installations take 30-45 minutes. No drilling is required, and we include all clamps, spacers, and mounting hardware in the box.
Yes, most bed extenders work with the Genesis as long as they don't interfere with the tailgate seal area. The cover clamps to the inside of the bed rail and doesn't block standard bed extender mounting points. Check your specific extender's clearance requirements before installing both accessories.
Every Genesis ships with two keys and a key code card. Keep the code card in a safe place, and you can order duplicate keys through any LEER dealer using that code. Replacement keys typically arrive within a week of ordering.
